For each shelf, one question: what resources should the Starter Kit give an institution like Two Rivers here, and what makes them usable. The maturity assessment sets the starting point; the four content shelves build from it.
AI Maturity / Readiness Assessment
Two Rivers cannot answer "where are we." It has pockets of activity and no inventory.
The resource: a fast self-assessment that locates an institution honestly and points it to what matters first. Everything else reads off this starting point.
Applications
Faculty use AI for prep and feedback, students use free tools, advising wants a chatbot and early alert, marketing is dabbling.
The resource: a short, triaged menu of high-value, low-risk starting applications suited to a stretched campus, with a clear sort of what to reach for now and what to leave for later.
Infrastructure
Licenses are ad hoc, there is no enterprise-agreement strategy, data is spread across the SIS and LMS, and no one owns the architecture.
The resource: a minimum-viable infrastructure picture: what to license, what data guardrails to set, and what an institution can responsibly do with what it already has. Cybersecurity architecture belongs here.
Professional Development and Curriculum
Literacy is uneven, there is no training and no time, and the question of what to teach students about AI is unaddressed.
The resource: a realistic development on-ramp that fits a full teaching load and a thin budget, plus starting moves on student AI literacy and curriculum. Staff security awareness belongs here.
Policy
There is no AI use policy, academic integrity is handled course by course, and it is unclear who decides or how decisions get made.
The resource: starter policy scaffolding an institution can adopt quickly: acceptable use, an academic-integrity stance, data and privacy guardrails, and a procurement screen. Leave the question of who owns decisions open rather than prescribing a committee.
Hold the primary lens and the reality check together. The primary lens is resources: what belongs in the kit and what makes it useful. The reality check is implementation: can Two Rivers stand this up with the staff, budget, and time it actually has.
